Iran's top commander Qassem Soleimani was killed last week in a U.S. airstrike in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Soleimani, who led Iran's elite Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), was the architect of many Shi'ite and pro-Iranian proxy militia groups across the region known as the "Axis of Resistance."
